I've been waiting for the technology to improve or the prices to decrease...but, it doesn't seem the cost is going to come down much in the near future. So, I decided to take the plunge into the LED scene, and test out the SpydrRx Plus from Fluence. Very costly initially, but if all goes right, I think it'll be worth it with the energy savings, and possibly a better quality end product.
I considered other lights, some with really nice features. I checked out the Kind LED, while at the GorillaGrowTents warehouse a few weeks back. It seems like a nice all-in-one, with programmable timer functions to control intensity and spectrums of light for the different stages of growth. It has a couple fans also within the unit for the heat. I don't particularly like that part of the design for heat dissipation, as I like less moving parts. But overall, it was a good light with nice functions.
I decided to go with Fluence because they seem to have gone the extra mile when it comes to LEDs. They do a lot of testing with a scientific approach, to gather evidence, and improve on their technology. I like the fact that they also consider cannabis in these testing procedures. I've seen some phenomenal grows with their lights.
I'll be testing out the SpydrRx Plus in a tent grow, attempting to mimic the optimal conditions they suggest to maximize the potential of the plants with their light. I know there'll be quite a learning curve as I'm more used to growing in larger, open environments.
I'll post, in this thread, updates in the process.
Thanks.
Below, are photos of the High PPFD(PhotosyntheticPhotonFluxDensity)Cultivation Guide they sent with the unit. Some useful information that you might like to read:
