Hey all..

as some of you may know we are in the process of upgrading the server, forum software, gallery, chat and seed store, so we are very busy behind the scenes at the minute but I thought I'd give you a progress report as it's taking way longer than first anticipated but once it is done it will probably be one of the most up to date forums online.lol

* We have already upgraded the seed store and are populating it with products and detailed strain descriptions. this will be launched within weeks.

* We have already upgraded the forum on our test server and are implementing code modifications and products to enable the following features.

1. Rewards - Points system which can be redeemed as discounts against purchases at the seedstore

2. Member interactions users can award each other points, credits for posting quality, helpful content, a sort of thanks but you can send award a cup of coffee to useful content contributors.

3. Upgrade to Article - if a number of members award a thread, post it will be put into the shortlist of threads to be upgraded to fully featured articles in out new knowledge base wiki section

4. Blogs - Breeders and contributors have the choice of creating posts, blogs or articles which offer a more user friendly format for displaying grow, strain or product guides.

5. Tabbed Navigation that most are used to using with the addition of an extra tab which you can populate with your favourite threads by clicking an ' add to favourites tab' displayed next to every forum heading. you can totally personalise the new Bay to suit your browsing habits..

New Gallery We have simplified the gallery system and upgraded it for security and stability.

New chatroom We have totally upgraded the chat system to an always open system that sits in the taskbar showing you who is in chat, you can join in even while you continue to browse the site with the ability to push interesting pages to your friends in chat so you can discuss topics and threads easily.

great for breeders to point customers towards specific information they are seeking.

We have integrated the strain description templates with a few improvements to allow precise, parental linked strain descriptions and grow reports.

To be implemented...

We are planning to combine all user registrations into one master registration so members join the forum shop and are automatically members of the auction and forum. This way we can offer cross site promotions and awards from the seed store for activity on the forums.

Breeder Tools.

Breeders and contributors can now use our growroom planner diary to organise their future grows and seed drops etc.

Bitcoin Automatic Checkout.

We have already implemented an automatic checkout system at the seed store so you can pay easily with bitcoins right from your armchair. we are adding a Blockchain system to allow you to create a wallet, credit it and spend your coins easily.. this is very new technology that resulted in us needing to completely overhaul the entire server software , kind of like a total engine gearbox upgrade but this is to make it as easy as possible for you to access the gentics you want fast.

Apologies for the delay but we want this to be done right, we will have some super discount promotions running to conincide with the launch..

Well thankfully the voting is well and truly over in the UK,
will we still be a part of the EU or will we stand alone?

Theres been so much bullshit peddled round from both camps
I expect bountiful harvests in this small island, you only need to hold a seed aloft and its coated.

The scaremongering was truly epic and sadly believed by many,
it seemed the EU was to blame for every bad thing that ever happened in the last 50 years,
for me i don't trust any politician,

the way the world has always grown is you listen to the highest scholars of the land to guide you , its hard to find any nowadays that aren't funded by greed and persuasion,
sadly the media is out to scare and stir hatred rather than educate and explain.

lets hope whatever the result this small Island starts seeing sense at some point and look to legalizing and getting money from that rather than the bullshit laws that are still in place

Electronic vs. Magnetic Ballast Lighting

$

Made the switch to electronic ballast last year. Now switching back to the magnetic ballasts again.

Why? Brand new bulbs were losing foot-candle output quickly using electronic ballasts. Bulbs were burning out and even exploded a few times. Next, plant growth and trichome production suffered because of the light degradation.

Switched back to all of the old magnetic ballasts and everything is back on track with yield!

The electronic ballasts do run more electrical, temperature, and volume efficient compared to the magnetic ballasts, but in my humble opinion, is not worth the loss of very expensive bulbs and yield. Still using the electronic ballasts in the vegetative room, but no more for the bloom room.

Has anyone else experienced this?

EDIT:
Tested Ballasts and Bulb:

Digital Ballast Tested: Lumatek Air Cooled 1000W/120-240V

Magnetic Ballast: Sunlight Supply Harvest Pro Switchable 1000W HPS/MH

Bulb: Hortilux 1000W Super HPS (same new bulbs used in each ballast)

Popped a full pack of 11.
100% germination.
5 females.Not bad! :)
2 weeks or so in beer cups then in 1 gallon bags for around 6-7 more weeks of veg time.Transplanted into 5 gallon bags at flip.Currently on day 10/11….pic attached. They are all quite similar in structure and will be spread out more as space in my bloom room opens up.Kinda crammed in there right now!

I used to grow the Sweet Skunk around 8 or 9 years ago.She was a real winner but I sadly lost her in a move. :( My love for that strain was my reason for purchasing these seeds as my first Bodhi's ever.I have high hopes.

My Girl Scout Haze Cookie keeper

I popped a 5 pack of these ladies around a year ago from Connoisseur Genetics. It is their cross of Girl Scout Cookies and Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze.100% germ rate. All the ladies were somewhat similar in structure but 4 of the 5 exhibited male pollen sacks by week 3 or so.None so bad it had be culled….but they did require more of my time hunting, and picking the balls off!

Amazingly enough, the one pheno that was stable ended up being the obvious keeper. It's usually the other way around so I was quite pleased to be on the right side of fortune for a change.

She will be staying in the garden for some time to come. Here are a few pics on day 64.Flowered in 5 gallon bags, she usually yields between 9-12 oz.She can easily go 70 + days and does best with an extra long flush.

Her scent is exotic and intoxicating...anise and sandalwood come to mind.

Here are few dried flower shots. She is a very thought provoking smoke…quite upbeat.Great for mood enhancement and daytime pain relief.

Testing Bodhi lines & hybrids.. SSDD x's, YM/SSH, & more

$

Hey peeps..

Got some crosses currently testing being done for Bodhi, also running a strayfox line w/ Bodhi lines, and 1 of my own..

This includes 3 different Sunshine Daydream testers, the new male, or set of lines.. whichever.. Im not sure..
I recently got 3 different Sunshine Daydream lines from Bodhi and family, and I decided, even unexpected how much id want to run all of them, and many others already planned and wired down over months to a small enough number of lines where Im only popping a few seeds of each line, not even a single half pack, and still started over 50 seeds..
Tough, many are for ODs..
Back to topics,..
So the SSDD x's

"3 Kings OG", "WiFi" aka "White Fire OG", "Black Triangle" (Bodhi's keeper , his line) (Triangle Kush x '88 GHash)

Here is 3 each of the Wifi & Black Triangle hybrids..
They're about a week older and a bit bigger than pictured here..
Most likely will have to go outside , tor i have to put them in small pots and risk males in the flowering room..

…i don't know.. I really wanna run them, ad clone them all, but i have a lot of gear already popped, ready for transplants from 20oz cups into final containers, and ifd like to start flowering in a couple weeks, get the rest outdoors to their spots this week, as soon as they're acclimated to the sun, which some are already undergoing.. will go in a couple batched that will keep up with the work.
I have to either put all 3 in 1 hole each Outside.. or maybe in 1-gals indoors, but they're always an extra space.. Im think thats what Ill do.. any male, Ill just take and leave in its pot outside, and then collect the pollen I can, and they'll probably be done blooming before the OD females start If flipped in the next 2-3 wks.
Sorry, thinking aloud..

The 3 "3Kings OG x SSDD" I started , I gave to a friend, as he fucked up the seeds I gave him, so I gave hi some of the month+ old seedlings and a couple strains just popped and ready or just put in cups from plugs..
He killed 1/3 (3KOG/SSDD), but 2 are good.. he also has 3 "321Kush", 1- C99, 1- Ghostrider OG(or maybe 2),1- Blue Power,1- Crater Lake .. maybe something else i forget I gave him.

I also have started "Super Silver Yo Mama" (older line) my first time running
I personally think that Yo mama & Super Silver Haze are 2 of the dankest lines ever, and Im an indicsa guy.. but the hybrids w/ yo mama and SSH Ive had by different breeders have came out great, always punch through some, and are tasty and potent and yield well.
A few of my all-time favorites have these lines in them. My most exotic goes to Bubba mama. or Pink mama.. close call.
These are also smaller than all else, second round of "need to be run or replaced from first run" seeds.
These are staying indoors and any males pollen will be harvested %100 for f2ing..
I heard this line is a long lost amazing line, both parents long dead, and its sick, 25 packs ever made, just sick.. It sounds that sick.. Im excited.. I know any female will be keeper worthy.. like worth toping to get a cut to flower out by that time I have to.
Ill get all these hybrids that are younger in bigger containers earlier transplants than usual and double up on microbes and stuff. some booster veg layers.
So Im down to just 1 "SnowQueen" seedling (PineQueen x Snow Lotus).. i popped a few

..but I also have 2 of strayfox's "Rollin '88" (Tranquil Elephantizer remix x SnowQueen) {GHash pheno mom} , and my good buddy Im helping w/ his first grow of his own, he's got 2 of the other pheno of Rollin 88. more snow lotus dom.

I also have my own cross going of (TGA's "Qush" pheno#4 x Goji OG) .. I already tested a pheno of my Chem D x SSH mom (now dead) with the same male and that came out great.
Theres a pic of that mom in my main summer thread, a grow report and also a thread w/ the Goji male.

The Chemdawg D/SSH female by Beanhoarder was great (report avail), and I only had 1 female from 3 beans I popped (also popped 3 Qush#4 {I did 2 Qush females 1&4, 4 is keeper}) was amazing.. the single female, I lost most the pics if not.. it was very similar to the ISP Chem 91 bx2 f2 pheno I had in the same run, but it came out full chem, OG, NL dom SSH, great white frost and potent and beautiful and dank as hell. pissed I lost the cut. I plan to f2 it next time I pop some.. unlikely Ill get 2 nice Qush/Goji OG's, but if I get a good male or female or both , it'll be kept.. first good male I think I hit to a handful of females.. fun little stuff for now.
I think that it(the Goji male) improved the CD/SSH mom, and I think stray's made a better plant of Goji Cookies than the GSC forum cut , IMHO.. I didnt grow that, but it came out so damn amazing. Seemed to bring more OG funk AND amplify the terpenes of mom.
Anyways… well see.

Thaks for looking,
-peace

Years of Underground Cannabis Research Ready to Rock the Boat

By Ed Huddon on March 11, 2016 @cannabisnow

Humboldt County within the Emerald Triangle has long been synonymous with the world’s best cannabis. We’ve all heard of the regions pioneering growers. Almost taking on mythical status in cannabis folklore, Northern California’s cannabis farmers have been depicted as counter culture outsiders who bock at the plants recent normalization.

Topically lucid, most rooted growers simply seek return for investing years of hard work. Many growers have stockpiled intellectual capital – knowledge of optimal growing conditions, premium strains, breeding techniques, cures for pests and diseases and so on. A plethora of cannabis expertise exists in this region. Yet most have been reluctant to share their information for fear of government reprisal or competitive appropriation. Without support from the government, security and patent protections are obsolete. If growers openly share their intellectual capital, it would be easy to abscond their lifetime’s work. This is why Emerald cannabis farmers remain underground.

That is, until now.

With the passage of California’s Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act (MMRSA) and the subsequent passage of local regulation – some growers are eager and poised to become professionals. Over decades of cultivating cannabis, farmers have turned unique knowledge into specialized skills.

Epitomizing this crop of specialized professionals is a hidden gem within the Emerald Triangle: a scientific research group called Humboldt DNA. This team of scientists is on the verge of identifying and mitigating one or more infectious agents within the cannabis cultivar. And only recently, due to support from local government and community, are they ready to come into the light.

According Humboldt DNA’s founder, “we weren’t ready to take this public but if the county will embrace us as being business people and professionals than we’re going to be business people and professionals.”

Humboldt DNA’s story goes like this: long before powdery mildew and spider mites, cannabis seemed easier to grow. Humboldt’s renowned cannabis strains seemed to once have more vitality. Over the years, plants were loosing vigor.

For Humboldt DNA, this failure to reach full potential was a problem. Humboldt DNA’s passion for the plant emboldened them to figure out why. They tested every pest management application they could get their hands on – “testing all angles” as Humboldt DNA’s lead scientist put it. While developing control methods for classic pests and mildews, they observed a range of specific symptoms unresponsive to treatments, which were hindering an appreciable percentage of their plants.

They dug deeper. They began to look outside of their own plant stock and what they witnessed was frightening. The symptoms they observed in their nursery were also affecting other grow rooms in the area. Most alarming, they observed these symptoms were more or less doubling year after year. If not stopped this outbreak would soon affect all medicinal cannabis plants within the region, potentially leading to massive failure. Humboldt DNA realized this was (and still is) a major problem.

Humboldt DNA’s founder assembled a secret research team. Made up of a half dozen PhD’s, dozens of farmers, nurserymen, and industry professionals, their goal was to solve the outbreak of what they now term: Putative Cannabis Infectious Agent(s) (PCIA). Strong evidence and theory leads them to believe that they are dealing with one or more viruses, although additional research is needed for conformation.

Through years of testing they determined that PCIA is seed and pollen born – it is passed on through pollination and cloning. It is vectored by insects – such as aphids, root aphids, mites, thrips and white flies. They have ruled out fungi, oomycota, bacterial causes, as well as genetic drift – i.e. somaclonal variation.

PCIA never leaves the plant; there are no accidental immunities or anomalies where a plant doesn’t contract the infectious agents from a parent plant. They have also discovered the mechanism by which PCIA inhibits plant growth.
They also believe they have found a solution.

Humboldt DNA “boldly predicts that [they] will pull PCIA from cannabis plants and the results will be staggering – we will see a resurgence of genetic vitality that hasn’t been seen for decades.”

This group is also tied to community. “We’re in Humboldt and Humboldt should own this… we will operate in an area where we raise the entire bar – we will grow the best – we will come out the gate, out of rec (legalization of recreational cannabis), miles ahead.”

Humboldt DNA intends on building facilities across Humboldt County, starting with a laboratory in the city of Arcata’s yet to be created Medical Marijuana Innovation Zone (MMIZ). They intend to push the Humboldt brand to new heights. They predict that the whole world will not only seek genetics from the area but it will become mandatory to source genetics from Humboldt. Their technology will stay proprietary and they are committed to staying in the Emerald Triangle – that means the money will stay in the community.

Humboldt DNA has identified six social groups that will benefit from their pioneering venture.

Cannabis farmers will benefit from improved harvests – with higher yields and higher quality due to uninfected plant stock. Environmentalists will see fewer impacts from pesticides, fertilizers, and fungicides – as uninfected clones and seeds will greatly reduce the need for these applications. Enforcement agencies will benefit because Humboldt DNA’s genetics will only be available to compliant cultivators – this will create a natural incentive for growers to stay up to code. Academia will benefit from the value of numerous research opportunities, charting a cultivar from its infancy – a huge body of epistemological knowledge. Patients will benefit from higher quality, cleaner medicine. The government will benefit from increased revenue due to increased productivity.

It’s a win-win and as Humboldt DNA’s founder put it, “the only losers are viruses and companies that sell poison.”

This group wasn’t ready to leave their covert lab but recent developments gave them confidence to make the leap. Humboldt DNA is ready to transition into a fully legitimate business. As their founder confided, “when you have the (Humboldt) planning commission and board of supervisors taking decisive action like they have, and you have someone like me, running a secret research group in the basement, who cannot do what he needs to do to solve this problem, it creates incentive to come into the (public) light.”

The embrace of local government and community has created an opportunity for Humboldt DNA to venture out of the dark. They are pioneers in a new industry. They are an example of the potential of California’s cannabis industry. They are industry leaders. But most of all they are community members. We can only hope that more will follow their footsteps.

Heavey nose stank tank. I absolutely love this strain. I have 7 of these growing at the moment. Transplating them later into 5 or 7 gal containers. I'm going to make seeds with a certain stinker. Going to work it to f5 . Clones will also be taken. I will try to get pictures here in a week or two

Others who sampled this have said they felt congestion disappear and breathing become less labored. The overall effect lasts a couple of hours with no crash.
